Milos: 3-5 days itinerary

We visited Milos in 2023 for the first time, and let me say that this beautiful island sits on top of our top 3 in the Cyclades. This guide should hopefully help you prepare this year's summer as well ;)

DAY 1

  • Arrive at the Port of Milos via ferry
We travelled from Athens and the journey took us about hours on the fast service via Sea Jets. We found that despite being the most expensive option, this is generally what worked best for us and is quite reliable.
  • Have a quick bite and get your first gyro at Gyros of Milos
  • Spend the afternoon on the southern beaches (Firiplaka and/or Tsigarado
  • Have dinner at O! Hamos! Tavern
As foodies, O! Hamos! was our favourite place to eat on the island and we went back 3 times! You will need to queue each time, no matter what time though the earlier the better. We got used to it and I would suggest bringing some paying cards or dices and enjoy the beach views with a drink while you wait. Trust me, this isn't overhyped and is worth your while!!!

DAY 2
  • Get to Sarakiniko beach (aka the moon beach) early in the morning
  • Lunch at Mandrakia + stroll around this tiny fishing village
  • Drive to Firopotamos and spend the afternoon
  • Admire the sunset in Plaka : Utopia Caffe has one of the best sunset spots (be prepared to queue or get there before opening, which is usually at 6pm)
  • Have a juicy Souvlaki at Vlahos
Firopotamos Beach (below photo) was one of our personal favourite - we also went back there a few times to simply chill in the afternoon. If you have a car or a scooter, it will give you a lot of flexibility to move around so I'd highly suggest it.

DAY 3
  • Visit the tiny fishing village of Agios Konstantinos
  • Make your way to Papafragas Cave Beach
  • Lunch in Pollonia
  • Enjoy the afternoon in Pollonia beach

DAY 4 & 5 : DAY TRIPS / EXCURSIONS
  • Explore the picturesque island of Kimolos
To visit Kimolos, you will need to take a short ferry ride from Pollonia. During high season, you have multiple ferries per day and cost 2,40 euros per way for one passenger for a journey under 30 minutes.
  • Rent a boat for half a day or full day and reach Kleftiko as well as other beaches/caves only accessible by sea
We looked into booking with Firiplaka Boat Rental for a non licensed boat (without a skipper) but we had to cancel due to strong winds. Keep in mind that this may be the case, as well as your visit to Kimolos. When we decided to go, they advised against as there was a high chance of us not being able to travel back to Milos. Keep an eye on the wind situation and Meltemi seasons :)

A shorter guide on best beaches and places to eat will follow & feel free to ask me any questions.
